Because every child learns at a different pace, private lessons can be tailored to your child, helping him/her keep up with class at school, or give additional challenge and enjoyment. Many classes at school are large, and while the instructors do a wonderful job, it is physically impossible to get to each student to offer the individual attention for development of fundamentals of playing. Private lessons can help to maximize your child's potential learning the instrument, builds their confidence giving them instant feedback, and sets them up for success. Children learn how to practice correctly and productively, and are much more likely to stay motivated, with the help of a private instructor.

Jonelle is a strong advocate for music education and community service, and collaborates with non-profits and freelancers that demonstrate musical excellence, inclusivity and respectful communication. For over 30 years she has
taught and encouraged young musicians in her private studio (Sequoia Strings), which began under the guidance of violinist Lea Telford. Jonelle is known for her patience and kindness with her students, and was recognized as a distinguished educator.
Highlights - education
Jonelle’s interest in music blossomed when she began playing violin in the public school orchestra during her primary years. Her passion for music motivated her to obtain a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Boise State University, during which she took a brief sabbatical after accepting an invitation to join Up With People, performing for 12 months throughout the continental United States, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.
Highlights - performance experience
Eagerly accepting almost every opportunity to perform opened doors to play with ensembles performing in beautiful churches and concert halls, including the iconic Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Sydney Opera House. Desiring
to voluntarily share her talents as much as possible, she has performed with community orchestras for Boise Music Week and Hymns of Thanksgiving, and is a member of Meridian Symphony Orchestra (Idaho). She is a founding member of
Boise Baroque (BBO), has played for Oregon East Symphony in Pendleton, and special events in Sun Valley and McCall with her group Sequoia String Quartet.
